Support the IP and Innovation Clinic

Emory’s IP and Innovation Clinic provides Emory Law students valuable, hands-on experience assisting clients in taking an idea from the beginning stages of conception to an issued patent. With supervision from Emory faculty and partner law firm attorneys, students will counsel clients going through the patent process and advocate on their clients’ behalf before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Support the IP and Innovation Clinic »

The IP and Innovation Clinic at Emory Law is the first and only United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO)-certified law school clinic in the state of Georgia. The clinic provides Emory law students with real-work experience representing clients, meeting with inventors, and practicing important patent prosecution and patent litigation skills while being mentored by practicing IP attorneys.

All clinic work is done on a pro bono basis, on behalf of clients vetted through the nonprofit Georgia Lawyers for the Arts/Georgia PATENTS program. To qualify for services, clients must have income or revenue levels below defined thresholds. Often, the inventors served are women, veterans, and underrepresented minorities, thereby advancing our country’s global competitiveness goals in line with Goal 1 of the USPTO’s 2022-2026 Strategic Plan.

In order to keep offering this valuable client service and incredible student learning opportunity, we need your help! We need funds to help cover classroom materials and clinic expenses. Please give generously to help us benefit our students, the inventorship community, and our country. Give today!
