Kessler-Eidson Program for Trial Techniques

Modeled after the National Institute for Trial Advocacy's program for teaching practicing lawyers, Emory Law's Kessler-Eidson Program for Trial Techniques employs an experiential approach to develop oral advocacy skills. It is the largest such program in the country and recognized as one of the nation's finest. Help teach methodology that integrates second-year law students’ knowledge of substantive evidence with practical trial skills through a "learn-by-doing" format. Mock Trial

Emory’s Mock Trial Society develops practical litigation skills via workshops and competitions. Over a semester, you could lead a two-to-four-member student team in its tourneys. Email Email Jennifer Romig, professor of practice or EmoryMootCourt@gmail.com

Moot Court

Emory Moot Court Society is a competitive, student-run organization that provides experiential opportunities to develop oral advocacy and brief-writing skills. Clerkships

Employ Emory Law students as your law clerks. Employers value judicial clerkships: Most law firms give former clerks credit for one to two years’ practice, depending on the length of the clerkship. Some firms give former clerks a hiring bonus and a few even require clerkships. Externships & Practical Advice

Externships provide work experience and allow students to explore different types of practice while they develop relationships to aid the start of their careers. They learn to be professionals by taking the skills and principles they learn in the classroom and apply them in practice. Contact the Law Externship coordinator.

Bar Mentorship Program

Support students in the most recent graduating class as they prepare to take the July Bar Exam. Inclusive of all jurisdictions, mentors (graduates of the last decade) send content each week to their mentees. Speak

Student organizations and practice societies need panelists for their upcoming programming.

Faculty, centers, and programs need guest speakers for their class, seminars and conferences.

Students need to engage and network with our alumni one-on-one. Opportunities include mock interviews, admitted student yield events, speed networking events, socials, hosting a group of students for lunch or dinner, etc. Contact the Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement at lawalumni@emory.edu.

After completing mandatory training, interview one or more applicants for undergraduate admission and submit the evaluation to admission office. Contact Annie Wells, alumni admission programs, annie.wells@emory.edu.

Serve

Advisory and Alumni Boards 

Both the Dean’s Advisory Board and the Alumni Board represent a diverse range of perspectives and geography and are appointed to advise the dean and senior staff on the interests of the Emory Law community. The Advisory Board concentrates primarily on fiscal and operational strategic planning, and the Alumni Board focuses on strategic planning for alumni engagement. These volunteer leaders help to keep the law school apprised of and responsive to the current state of the profession and the concerns and needs of our alumni. 

EmoryLaw@Work Firm Challenge

The goal is for participating firms to achieve 100% participation. This friendly competition among firms across the nation promotes support of the Law School Fund for Excellence. Raising annual unrestricted resources allows the law school to fund its most pressing needs. These donations are the foundation that supports all Emory Law initiatives, including, but not limited to scholarships, academic programs and initiatives, faculty support and research, student organizations and activities, professional development and career services, and public interest programs.

Emory Law @Work also benefits participating firms by assisting with recruiting efforts and highlighting each firm’s commitment to philanthropy. The challenge also builds alumni camaraderie at the firm and vitalizes alumni networking in the larger community. Have questions or wish to volunteer as a firm captain? Reunion Class Committee

Responsibilities

• Be an ambassador and point of contact for your class.
• Share your class fundraising initiative.
• Connect with class committee members to develop a plan to engage your class. Toolkits and class lists are provided.
• Attend Emory Law Alumni Weekend.
• Encourage classmates to register.
• Lend your name for ELAW communications.

Qualifications

• Be a passionate supporter of Emory Law.
• Commit to increasing alumni participation and giving.
• Be a member of the classes being celebrated during the upcoming Emory Law Alumni Weekend.
• Be accessible to staff liaison.
