The American College of Environmental Lawyers (ACOEL) announced April 8 the election of 18 new fellows, including Mark Nevitt, associate professor of law. Each new College member has a depth of experience in – and has made substantial contributions to – the field of environmental law. The new fellows come from private practice, academia, not-for-profit organizations, and the government.

“The College has the great fortune to include the top environmental law practitioners in the United States and, now, Canada,” said ACOEL President Tracy Hester, professor at the University of Houston Law Center and Co-Director of its Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Law Center. “They represent the best of our field, and we’re delighted to welcome them into the College.”

Nevitt said, “I am honored to be recognized by the American College of Environmental Law, an organization that values academic excellence that is rooted in the practice of environmental law. This ACOEL recognition further demonstrates Emory Law’s strong commitment to educating the next generation of environmental lawyers through our extensive course offerings, scholarly opportunities, Atlanta location, and renowned Turner Environmental Law Clinic - which just celebrated its 25 year anniversary under Professor Mindy Goldstein’s trusted leadership. For current and aspiring Emory Law students, it is truly an exciting time to be studying environmental law.”
